The Loyola Notre Dame Library is open, and library staff are available in-person and virtually to assist you with your teaching, learning, and research.
When is the Library open?

Who can visit the Library?
- Current students, faculty, and staff of Loyola University Maryland and Notre Dame of Maryland University
- USMAI students, faculty, and staff with current university IDs may visit our library during the school semester; entrance will be restricted to LNDL patrons during final exams.
What should I expect when I visit?
- Food is permitted in the Cyber Café and Gallery
- Covered drinks are allowed and water filling stations are available
The library is operating with a modified masking policy based on each university’s guidelines:
For Loyola students, faculty, and staff'
- Tap your Loyola ID at the doors to enter
- Masks are optional in classroom space; masks are optional in study rooms
For Notre Dame students, faculty, and staff
- Swipe your Notre Dame ID at the doors to enter
- Masks are required in classroom space; masks are optional in study rooms
For USMAI students, faculty, and staff
- Use the buzzer at the door to alert security that you are here
- Swipe current university ID at front desk
Where can I return items?
Return LNDL, USMAI, or ILL books:
- At the book drop outside the Library
- At the book drop in Loyola’s Stamp-It
- At the Help Desk during building hours
Can I reserve a space for studying?
- Reservations are available for LUM and NDM students, faculty, and staff.
Can I visit the Archives & Special Collections?
- The Archives and Special Collections Reading Room is available to students, faculty, and staff of Loyola University Maryland and Notre Dame of Maryland University. Please make an appointment in advance of your visit by calling 410-617-6868 or emailing archives@loyola.edu.
What can I borrow?
- LNDL items and USMAI items:
- Borrow books, media, and Innovation Station equipment at the Help Desk during building hours
- Books and media are available for contactless pickup in the front vestibule lockers
- Interlibrary Loan (ILL) items:
- Faculty, staff, and students can request books via Interlibrary Loan (ILL)
- All faculty, students, and staff can request PDFs of book chapters or articles not owned by LNDL via Interlibrary Loan (ILL)
- View the status and due date of your ILL books in your Library Account
- Email us at interlib@loyola.edu or call us at 410-617-6804 with any questions or to renew your ILL books.
How do I access a book if I’m remote?
- Request individual chapters or sections via Interlibrary Loan
- Check LNDL's eBook collections
- Chat with a librarian 24/7 for help
How do I renew?
- Log into your Library Account to renew books
Will I be fined for overdue books?
- LNDL items do not accrue daily fines but do charge for Lost items.
- USMAI books do accrue fines.
- Fines for Interlibrary Loan items are based on policies of the lending library. Email interlib@loyola.edu for more information.
How do I put something on reserve for my class?
- See the Course Reserve form
Where can I find resources for my classes?
- Search OneSearch for eBooks, articles, and more
- Find streaming media
- Access subject-specific databases from our research guides
- Ask a librarian 24/7
Can I print or scan in the library?
- Printing and scanning options are available
- Request help from library staff with using the Large Format Printer
Are there public computers at the Library?
- Public computers are available on the first, third, and lower levels
How can I use the Innovation Station?
- Makers must agree to the Makerspace Policies and Guidelines (pdf) and complete the Maker Information and Agreement Form before using the equipment
- Some equipment requires certification
- Schedule a meeting with Innovation Station staff
- Reserve Innovation Station technology
- Chat with Technology Services staff Monday – Friday 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM
- Attend a virtual pop-up class to get started innovating at home
What technology is available to help me teach my classes?
- The Lightboard to record lectures where the presenter appears to draw in the air
- The One Button Studio (which includes a green screen) to record quick videos
- The SmartMarker to record or live stream note-taking on a whiteboard
- The Recording Studio for audio recording and production
- The Yi 360 camera to make 360 videos and images
What technology can I check out?
- Cameras and the 3D Sense Scanner are available for students, faculty, and staff
- The Yi 360 camera and SmartMarker are available to faculty
- Return technology to the Help Desk during building hours
